Breaking News: Port Orange man in police custody as suspect in early morning shooting death of grown stepson

PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- A 68-year-old man is in police custody at this hour after cops responded to his Shahab Lane home where they found his grown stepson dead from an apparent gunshot wound,Port Orange cops said.

Danny E. Holder is considered the suspect in the fatal shooing of Randall C. Lowen, 55, but police have not said whether they are planning to charge him in the homicide.

"This tragic incident appears at this time to be domestic in nature with the victim being the step-son of the suspect," Port Orange police officer Evan Doyle said in a press release emailed to Headline Surfer and other area media media outlets. "A third person was inside the home at the time of the shooting, but was unhurt." Headline Surfer has learned through a source that third person is Holder's wife, and the fatal shooting victim's  Randall mom.

Headline Surfer has learned through a source that third person is Holder's wife, and the fatal shooting victim's  Randall mom.

Here is a synopsis of what occurred at 8:06 a.m., as described by Doyle: "The Port Orange Police Department responded to 6509 Shahab Ln. in reference to a person shot. Randall C. Lowen (07/25/1961) was pronounced deceased at the scene due to an apparent gunshot wound. Danny E. Holder (02/14/1948) is in custody and is considered the suspect at this time. We do not believe there to be a continued threat to the public as no additional suspects are believed to be outstanding. Additional updates will be provided as information comes available."
