Dear Friends,
This week we are focused on building our economy here in Florida – and throughout the nation. There are many tough issues facing our economy and we are doing everything we can to make Florida a better place to live and work.
This week I joined forces with the banking and mortgage lending industries to provide foreclosure relief to Florida homestead property owners. The voluntary agreement by the industry representatives will help give people hope during this challenging economic time. I’m proud of the bankers and lenders for helping the struggling families and homeowners to rest easier during this holiday season.
I also joined many of our nation’s governors in Philadelphia to meet with President-elect Barack Obama to discuss our nation’s need for an economic recovery package. I provided a letter outlining Florida’s priorities such as assisting budget constraints pertaining to Medicaid rolls, the inclusion of funding for infrastructure projects that can be immediately constructed, and keeping America’s goods and services moving through the use of free and fair trade.
I am committed to securing Florida’s economic future and working with our federal partners to restore consumer confidence, revive our job market and provide relief to families who are struggling under the weight of their financial obligations.
May God bless each and every one of us and the great State of Florida.
Charlie Crist
Florida Governor
