Daytona Beach Shores cops: Death of woman, 34, in Hawaiian Inn under investigation as a homicide

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. -- The death of 34-year-old female in a motel room is being investigated as a homicide, cops said.

She was identified Sunday as Olympia Cerruti, 34, a black female, with a date of birth of Dec. 26, 1982.

Here's a synopsis of what occurred at 5: 23 a.m. Friday as described by Lt. Michael Fowler to Headline Surfer in an email media alert: Officers of the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety responded to the Hawaiian Inn located at 2301 South Atlantic Ave., regarding a CPR call in progress.  Responding officers found a 34-year-old female suffering from a traumatic injury in full cardiac arrest.  Resuscitative efforts were unsuccessful, and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Fowler said investigators are interviewing multiple witnesses and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is processing the crime scene.  The case is being treated as a homicide. The identity of the victim was initially withheld until notification of next of kin could be made.  This investigation is in its incipient stages and more information will be released as it becomes available, Fowler added.
