DAYTONA BEACH -- Nan Rich, the ultimate Democratic time server who was term-limited in the Florida House and then the Senate finally gets her shot to be governor.
Sort of.
Because she still has to get by Charlie Crist, the former Democratic governor who ran as an independent for US. Senate and now has his sights set on recapturing the governor's mansion from incumbent Republican Rick Scott.
But in keeping his eyes on the prize, did Crist take Rich for granted? Perhaps, but if Crist can't be Scott, then it would be an almost lock that neither could Rich and Democratic voters understand that.

Headline Surfer® endorses Charlie Crist as the Democratic nominee in the November runoff. He has the experience, stamina and know-how to at least get through this primary on Tuesday.
Crist, 58, has fallen behind to Scott, but he's still in front of Nan and and that's what counts here.
Despite her lengthy tenure in Tallahassee, Rich remains largely unknown to the Democratic rank-and-file. She served in the Florida State Senate, representing district 34 from 2004 to 2012. Prior to that, she was a member of the Florida State House of Representatives from 2000 to 2004.
