HOLLY HILL -- A 24-year-old Holly Hill police recruit who played college football died Saturday during a pre-employment physical-agility test, police there said.
Robert Tramaine Williams of Daytona Beach collapsed at 2 p.m. after completing the test, police said.
Police and then-arriving paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an attempt to try and revive Williams, but he was pronounced dead at Halifax Health Medical Center an hour later.
Williams, a student at Daytona State College's School of Emergency Services, applied for a job with Holly Hill police on Oct. 9, having graduated this year with a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Bethune-Cookman University. He also played football at B-CC.
Balance, flexibility, muscular endurance and strength exercises were all part of the test, which he and four others participated in, police said.
Authorities are awaiting an autopsy to determine the eact cause of death.
