Jacksonville man jailed on warrants charging him with NSB carjacking in May

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 19-year-old Jacksonville man is being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail on felony warrants accusing him of carkjacking a woman at the K-Mart shopping center in May and taking her purse, police reported.
 
According to a police complaint, on May 4 Williams forced Martha Goodwin, no age given, of New Smyrna Beach, into her car at gunpoint in the shopping center parking lot on State Road 44. 

The victim told police they drove around the west side of New Smyrna Beach for a short time before he let her go unhurt after he took the purse and drove off with her car.

Less than two weeks later, Williams was pulled over by Jacksonville authorities in the victim's car, according to the New Smyrna Beach police report, and subsequently charged with posession of a stolen motor vehicle. Duval County asuthorities turned him over to police here and he was jailed last week.
