ORLANDO, Fla. -- Roberto Múñoz Carrillo, the indie luchador known as the Black Demon on the independent pro wrestling circuit has succumbed to the coronavirus. He was just 39 years old.
Reported first by Superluchas.com, Carillo became professional wrestling's first fatal victim of the global COVID-19 pandemic on April 13 in Mexico. The Black Demon debuted in 2009 and was billed from Mexicali.

He worked for multiple independent wrestling companies, winning the third annual Pendragon Rojo Cup in February held by Promoter Pendragon Rojo, a local promotion in San Luis Rio Colorado, in the Sonaro region of Mexico.
The 11-year grappler worked in several indie promotions while making a name for himself as the Black Demon on Mexico’s West Coast when he became ill and died on April 13 from COVID-19 complications, just shy of his 40th birthday.

Carillo was born on June 7, 1980, in Mexicali, Baja California, but still in his youth, moved to San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, where he soon began training as a luchador.
