DAYTONA BEACH -- The Ocean Center box office has moved to its new home at 101 N. Atlantic Ave., after months of temporary facilities set up during Ocean Center construction activities. The relocation is just in time for the Glenn Wilkes Classic over the weekend.
Two years ago, the box office was relocated from the Ocean Center’s west side to the east side of the facility to accommodate the expansion. Three months ago, the box office again was moved to a portable unit on the north side of the facility adjacent to Earl Street, across form the Ocean Center Parking Garage. Today, the box office is located on the north exterior side of the Ocean Center at the end of the connector concourse at Earl Street.
In upcoming months, the box office will move back into the renovated space which now is located on the connector concourse that joins the new exhibit hall and the renovated arena.
The new box office has upgraded Ticketmaster equipment, which allows ticket office staff access to more information in a timelier manner. (The Ocean Center box office is not a Ticketmaster outlet, but sells ticket to Ocean Center events through the Ticketmaster system.) In addition, the box office has upgraded ticket scanners, giving patrons faster access to events.
An Ocean Center business center – for use by exhibitors, vendors and conventioneers – ultimately will be adjacent to the new box office on the connector concourse. The new business center will offer services such as copying, faxing and more.
Contact information and hours of operation remain the same for the new box office. Patrons can call the Ocean Center box office at (386) 254-4545. Typically, Ocean Center box office hours of operation are from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. On show days, the box office is open 10 a.m. to show time Monday through Friday, and noon to show time Sunday.
The box office move occurred just in time for the second annual Glenn Wilkes Classic – events that tipped off the 2008-'09 NCAA Men's Basketball season at the Ocean Center on Friday and continuing through Sunday. Teams from Marshall University, Morgan State University, University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, University of Utah, University of Mississippi and Rollins College will compete in the three-day event. Glenn Wilkes Classic tickets are on sale at the box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.Ticketmaster.com, or by phone at (407) 839-3900.
For the Glenn Wilkes Classic, the new box office will be open 9 a.m. Sunday, and will remain open until half-time of the last game each day.
As in the past, the Ocean Center box office accepts cash, Visa and MasterCard. The Will Call is in the box office and opens 90 minutes before show time. Photo identification must be presented to pick up tickets.
One-day tickets for the Glenn Wilkes Classic are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.
