NSB Firefighters: No injuries reported in a small plane crash flip near New Smyrna Beach airport

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- A small plane crashed and flipped over on the west side of New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport, the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department said in a social media post.

Nobody was injured in the crash at the west side of New Smyrna Beach Airport at Turnbull Bay Road a week ago Saturday. A student pilot and trainer walked away from the mishap without injuries.

The plane apparently experienced "engine issues" and then crashed shortly after taking off from New Smyrna Beach Airport, municipal officials said, adding that the plane struck a fence and flipped over.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane, a Cessna 172, crashed shortly after the pilot reported "engine issues" after take-off from the airport. The plane Is registered to Epic Flight Academy, a flight school at the airport, the FAA said.
