NSB library offers free computer classes for beginners

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Whether you’re trying to navigate the Internet or still looking for the computer's on/off switch, the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library has beginner computer classes that can help you find your way, says Pak Kuehn, a Volusia County spokeswoman.

Among the courses:

# Computer Basics will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. This class is for people with little or no computer experience who want to learn about the components of a computer and get acquainted with terminology. Participants will explore some of the functions and features of the Windows operating system.

# Internet Basics will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21. Attendees will learn about the Internet and become familiar with terminology. They also will acquire basic skills to access and navigate web sites and use search engines and online directories.

# Microsoft Word begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the word processing program. Topics will include menus and toolbars, wizards, spell-check, copy/cut/paste, saving Word art, and adding graphics.
