NSB man charged in Texaco burglary

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 33-year-old city resident was charged Wednesday with burglary of a business after police responded to a 1:57 a.m. business alarm activation at the Texaco, 1121 S. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach police reported.

"Once on scene, it was determined that a burglary had taken place," Sgt. Christopher Roos wrote in his report. "Simultaneously, other officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle used during a retail theft at 7-Eleven, 700 N. Dixie Freeway. While investigating the retail theft, the stolen property from the burglary was discovered in plain view. The property was recovered and the suspect was taken into custody."

Zachary Michael Mytnik was subsequently charged in the Texaco burglary and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail where he was being held on unspecified bail.
