KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- A 24-year-old Kissimmee man is being held on manslaughter charges in the alleged killing Friday of his female roommate, according to an an Osceola County Sheriff's official.
Here is a synopsis of what occurred as described in an email media alert to Headline Surfer from Osceola County Sheriff's Major Jacob Ruiz: Deputies around 2 a.m. Friday responded to 133 Pickering Drive, Kissimmee, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found Savannah Leigh Threatts had sustained a gunshot wound and was deceased. An investigation revealed that Anthonny Mendez, a roommate and friend of the homicide victim had been negligently handling a firearm and ultimately shot her.

Mendez was arrested on felony charges of manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation.
Mendez is being held without bail at the Osceola County Jail.
