ORLANDO -- Orange County Sheriff's investigators this morning arrested the man they said shot and killed his live-in girlfriend in cold blood right in front of her two small children earlier this month -- the youngest he is the father to.
John DeJesus, 28, was presented before a judge just before noon where he was ordered remanded to the Orange County Jail on a no-bond status, pending a formal arraignment to answer to the charge of first-degree murder.

State Attorney Jeff Ashton and his staff will have to decide whether to seek the dearth penalty through a grand jury, which is a distinct possibility since the gunshot slaying of Borrero occurred in the presence of her two children -- a 4 year-old boy and a 4-month-old girl, the younger child being the accused murder's daughter.
DeJesus was allowed to bond out of jail on $4,700 bond to a lesser gun charge on May 4, because investigators at that point didn't have enough evidence to hold him on the since-levied murder charge.
DeJesus told investigators three men wearing masks barreled into their Millrace Court home, demanded money, and then opened fire on his girlfriend in front of him and the two kids. However, upon further investigation, these same investigators determined his earlier version of events didn't add up and a warrant was issued for his arrest. This led to his apprehension at 12:10 a.m. on Semoran Boulevard, five miles from the residence he shared with Borrero and the two children.
DeJesus, identified by authorities as a member of the Latin Kings gang, also is a convicted sex offender and a confessed drug dealer.
No motive has been established for the killing.
