DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- All across the political landscape the DemDogs and their media minions are howling on the hunt for what they desperately hope will be prey.

Armored in self-righteous hypocrisy and despite the fact that the FBI in its investigation has turned up noevidence of law-breaking, they have carried hyperbole to new lows, comparing General Flynn’s resignation and contacts with the Russians to real crises like Watergate, 9/11 or even the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The reactions of the two Parties to this affair is worth noting. Republicans in both Houses of Congress are calling for a bipartisan investigation of the extent of such contacts by Trump Administration and campaign officials as well as efforts to determine who violated federal law by releasing compartmented top secret information derived from intercepts of these contacts.  Regardless of the content, these leaks reveal some of our most sensitive sources and methods of intelligence collection.

The Democrats, who stonewalled any suggestion of wrongdoing by the Obama Administration, the Hillary Clinton campaign or the Clinton Foundation, convicted General Flynn and, by extension, President Trump, from the outset.  Their media allies have been even worse, if such a thing is possible.  Clearly the Democrats and their Marxist supporters are maneuvering in hopes of delegitimizing last year’s elections and charging the President with treason.

Devoutly dedicated to the belief that Hillary could not have lost a free and fair election, they have charged vote rigging, attacked the electoral college, and disparaged Russia’s alleged penetration and release of unclassified Democrat emails which revealed what, even for the Dems, was massive high-level election rigging.

Nothing stuck.

Now, doubling down on the presumed Russian motivation rather than the substance of what was released, they think that they may finally have found some mud which may stick when they throw it at the wall.

At every level the Democrats have made it abundantly clear that they have no intention of accepting the results of the election, of cooperating with the Trump Administration for the good of the country or of doing anything other than delaying and attacking our new President. The problem is that, even though no evidence of any wrong doing whatever has yet been uncovered, the Dems and the mainstream media will keep gnawing at this bone to keep the issue before the public in a way which suggests that there is substance to it even if there is none.

So what should the Trump Administration do?

I believe that the President should himself call for and support a full and immediate investigation of contacts with the Russians by General Flynn and other Trump officials or campaign members.  There is nothing wrong with such contacts per se, therefore the sensitive transcripts of the conversations should be released under highly-controlled conditions to the Intelligence Committees of the House and Senate where they can be examined for substance by properly cleared Members.  It appears that General Flynn’s sin was not in the contact but in not telling the truth about it to the Vice President.

If there was actual collusion of some illegal kind the American officials responsible should be appropriately punished.  If there was actual collusion the Russians involved should be declared persona non grata and expelled from our country.  The investigations should also seek out who actually leaked highly classified information to the press as well as the authors of any leaks which may take place of the transcripts presented to the Intelligence Committees and they too should be punished.

Nothing less will enable the Trump Administration to put this matter behind them and avoid the drip, drip, drip which traditionally magnifies the effects of Washington scandals.

At the same time the Republicans must make clear to their Democrat colleagues that they will reopen and or continue the investigations into Benghazi, Hillary’s illegal email server and the illegal money-laundering and influence buying of the Clinton Foundation with a view toward bringing criminal charges as and where justified by the evidence.

I had hoped that the country might be spared the full details of these dreadful scandals but the unfettered resistance to anything Trump by the Dems and their media and mobs renders this impossible.

The Democrats have suddenly discovered that transparency is a virtue.  We Republicans agree.  But no one died as a result of any of General Flynn’s conversations, the Trump Administration did not knowingly lie to the American people as President Obama and Secretary Clinton did over and over regarding Benghazi, no Republican shifted highly classified information to an illegal private server where it could be hacked by anyone with equipment from Radio Shack, and no one in the Trump Administration is operating a corrupt influence-selling operation disguised as a charity.

So, if the American people deserve the whole truth regarding whatever contacts Trump’s people may have had with the Russians, and we do, we also deserve the whole truth regarding these and other far worse scandals which characterized Barack Obama’s two terms in office and which define the character and activities of the Clintons.

The Dems cannot have it both ways, especially with the Republicans in power.  Let’s let it all hang out.
