EDGEWATER -- A 28-year-old Edgewater woman was pistol-whipped and robbed of her purse with $300 in cash and her cell phone, after accepting a ride from people she knew, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Brooke Lynn Cecil told deputies she had fallen asleep at a friend's home, before waking up again at 1 a.m. Thursday and calling Charles Harold Oldham-King, 41, of Edgewater, for a ride home.

Oldham-King called a friend and they, along with a third person, Lenore M. Davis of New Smyrna Beach, arrived to pick her up. But when they got there, Davis pulled out an air pistol and struck the victim in the head while the attacker and Oldham King demanded and took her pocketbook, along with $300 in cash, a camera and a cell phone, according to the sheriff's report.

The attackers took off and while Cecil was transported to Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach for treatment of a head wound, deputies began searching for them. They were apprehended and charged with amed robbery and aggravated battery. The two were being held on $15,000 bail each at the Volusia County Branch Jail. The driver cooperated with deputies and was not charged.
