DELTONA -- Volusia County Sheriff's investigators are working to unravel a home invasion Tuesday in Deltona in which a 28-year-old woman was reportedly
abducted at gunpoint, before being released unharmed, agency spokesman Gary Davidson reported.
He said deputies are interviewing her, piecing together Tuesday's events and searching for the suspects.
A 60-year-old man reported the attack to the Sheriff's Office at 2:57 p.m., saying four men armed with guns broke into his home at 2420 Pine Tree Acres Lane. The victim said the attack occurred at around 11 a.m. and that the suspects were in the house for at least three hours stealing televisions and other property before leaving with his daughter.
The daughter's Mazda Tribute was also missing, causing deputies to launch a massive manhunt involving approximately three dozen patrol units, investigators, K-9s and a helicopter. The search for the woman ended just before 4:30 p.m. when she drove up to her house, saying her captors had driven her around in her car for a while and then let her go. Neither victim was injured
According to the victims, the attack occurred at about 11 a.m. Tuesday morning when a man came to the door and flashed credentials for a
satellite T.V. company, Direct T.V. When the ruse didn't work, the suspects showed a gun and forced their way into the house. Most wore
masks and were armed with handguns or a rifle, according to the victims.
After leaving the house with the woman and property, some of the suspects drove off in a van, while others took off with the victim in
her vehicle.
Late Tuesday afternoon, deputies located an abandoned van near Catalina Boulevard and Howland Boulevard with some of the victims'
property inside. The incident remains under investigation.
