DELAND, FLA. -- With Tuesday's record 133 coronavirus-related deaths in Florida, Anita Reber Burnette, who is a candidate in the 2020 elections for a seat on the Volusia County School Board, is concerned about the safety of the district's students, teachers, and other employees.
"As a life-time healthcare professional, I am deeply concerned that we are only five weeks out from the start of school and we don’t yet have a plan," Burnette told Headline Surfer Tuesday night.
"The mission of our schools is vital, but we must ensure the health and safety of all involved," said Burnette, mother of two young grown sons with husband, Don Burnette, mayor of Port Orange.
