DELTONA -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report that a man forced his way into a Deltona home early Friday morning and sexually
assaulted a 41-year-old woman, sheriff's spokesman Brandon Haught said.
Two children under the age of 10 also were in the home, but slept through the attack, Haught said.
The victim told investigators that she didn't know who the suspect was. No weapon was used and the victim was not injured other than being sexually battered, the spokesman said.
The victim said that she was in her Vercelli Street home when someone
knocked on her door at approximately 1 a.m.
The person at the door asked for another resident -- who was not home at the time -- by name, so the
victim opened the door. The suspect then pushed his way into the home, forced the woman onto her bed and sexually battered her while holding
her down. The man then left. The victim told investigators that two children under the age of 10 were in the home sleeping in their
bedrooms, but they were not disturbed at any time during the attack, Haught said.
The victim said the suspect was a black male in his early 20s with short hair. He wore a black shirt and black pants.
