NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Several judges played musical chairs with County Judge Mary Jane Henderson moving her civil docket from New Smyrna Beach and County Judge Shirley Green relocating from DeLand to New Smyrna Beach. Both are New Smyrna Beach residents.
Green's docket also changed, from criminal to civil.
Circuit Judge S. James Foxman remains at the courthouse annex in New Smyrna Beach. County Judge Peter A.D. McGlashan moved his criminal docket from Daytona Beach to DeLand. County Judge David H. Foxman switched from a civil to a criminal docket in Daytona Beach. He is the son of Circuit Judge Foxman.
The relocations and dockert assignment changes occurred Wednesday, described by Volusia county and circuit courts spokeswoman Molly Justice as routine, allowing the judges to "enhance their knowledge and experience in other case types and provide them with an opportunity to interact with their colleagues, lawyers and litigants in other parts of the county."
Justice said other assignments to take effect Jan. 4 include:
• Circuit Judge Frank Marriott will leave his criminal docket in DeLand to return to dependency cases in Daytona Beach;
• Circuit Court Judge Margaret Hudson will switch from dependency to felony in Daytona Beach.
