ORMOND BEACH -- The 85-foot passenger boat Starlite Princess based in Daytona Beach, returned to port after the vessel ran temporarily aground in the Intracoastal Waterway near Ormond Beach on Friday with 150 people on board, the New-Smyrna Beach-based U.S. Coast Guard said.
Operators aboard the Starlite Princess freed the vessel at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday and then returned to its home port located at Caribbean Jacks in Daytona Beach.
"Initial reports estimated that 150 passengers and crew were onboard the vessel at the time of the grounding," the Coast Guard said in a press release. "Rescue boat crews from Coast Guard Station Ponce de Leon Inlet based in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and Sea Tow responded. There are no reports of injuries or pollution."
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
