NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Despite the hot mid-day sun, several New Smyrna Beach firefighters stood tall Saturday as they held out their traditional "boot" to raise money for the annual Labor Day weekend Muscular Dystrophy Association.
With a seemingly endless caravan of beach-bound motorists descending from the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge and onto the towering South Causeway Bridge, firefighters had ample opportunity to generate much-needed cash for the MDA and Jerry's Kids.
Firefighters will be out there again today with the same weather conditions as Saturday holding out the boot.
