Memorial Day time to remember those who served our country

Memorial Day isn’t set aside for shopping sprees at malls. It is a day to remember all those military men and women who have served our country, some of whom made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us free. A special ceremony is being held in Washington, DC that recognizes our Vietnam veterans for their service. It’s past time for this, but good to know that someone cared enough to make this happen. God bless America.
FCAT “adjustment” not the way to go

The job of teachers is to educate students so they become functioning members of society. One way not to do this is to change the scores so that those who can’t pass the reading portion of the test suddenly do.
Compare the education of today’s children to those of 100 years ago: There were no computers, calculators, or cell phones yet the tests were incredibly hard. No failure here except for teachers who can’t do their jobs.
Let the punishment fit the crime
Grade: D
Why do the same people keep getting arrested over and over? Maybe because they know they’ll have to commit a large number of crimes before getting even a slap on the wrist. This puts our police forces under tremendous pressure.
It must be amazingly frustrating to watch the same folks cruising through the justice system again and again. Let’s get serious about crime and make the first crime the last one.
Kansas protects against foreign laws
Grade “A”
Why in the world would the American justice system base any of its decisions on laws that govern foreign countries? That’s as bad as destroying the 2nd Amendment by allowing the UN control guns in America.
According to the office of the Governor, the law “makes it clear that “Kansas courts will rely exclusively on the laws of our state and our nation when deciding cases and will not consider the laws of foreign jurisdictions.”
It will no doubt surprise you to learn that Muslims have already begun to protest the new law. This is excellent news; now we don’t have to worry about women in Kansas getting stoned to death.
