NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Come beat the summer heat in New Smyrna Beach, recently named one of National Geographic's top 20 surf towns in the world. Art Walk and Wine Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25 on scenic Flagler Avenue.
With the Atlantic Ocean at one end of the avenue and the Indian River at the other, Flagler Avenue is an enjoyable 5-block stroll with a wide array of unique galleries, shops and restaurants to visit. There will be something for everyone, including art work of every description on display in galleries, as well as by several visiting artists set up under canopies along the avenue.
Entertainment is the name of the game with DJ Dennis making announcements and playing everyone’s favorite music at the gazebo at Flagler and Pine. There's live glassworking demonstrations at Galleria di Vetro, jewelers creating at Jewelry of Joy and potters at work at Palms Up Pottery.
A special “punch card” prize drawing is presented by the Gallery Group of Flagler Avenue. The Wine Tasting flyer includes the punch card, so pick one up and get it punched at each of the five sponsoring galleries for a chance to win this month's prize, a matted 12x15 print, “Playground,” by artist Samuel Ruder, donated by Jonah's Cat’s Art Gallery, 220 Flagler Ave.
The other sponsoring galleries include Ta Da Gallery, 113 Flagler Ave.; J; Jewelry of Joy, 301 Flagler Ave.; Galleria di Vetro Studio and Glass Gallery, 310 Flagler Ave.; and Palms Up Pottery, 413 Flagler Ave.

Wine tasting passports are $20 for returning Wine Walk participants who bring their official Wine Walk glass from a previous month. For guests who do not have an official Wine Walk glass, participation will cost $25, which includes an official keepsake Wine Walk glass.
Tickets are available at Ta Da Gallery, 113 Flagler and at the tent at the corner of Flagler Avenue and Cooper Street. The passport will include 20 tasting tickets and some locations feature both one-ticket and multi-ticket wines to sample. It is a great way to extend you knowledge of wines and try something new and different. The flyer will list host locations in geographic order between the river and the ocean and the featured wines.
