NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 42-year-old man was arrested on drug charges Friday after he was stopped in the 300 block of the North Causeway and a meth lab was found in the back seat of his vehicle, New Smyrna Beach cops said.
Here is a synopsis of what happened in the 5:35 p.m. stop that led to the arrest of Duane Lee Kelley as described by police Sgt. Shane Riggle: "New Smyrna Beach Officers initiated a traffic stop on a 2010 silver Chevy pickup in the 300 block of the North Causeway. (Kelley) was subsequently arrested for driving on a suspended license. Shortly after the arrest, a methamphetamines lab was discovered in the backseat. Members from the South East Narcotics Task Force along with New Smyrna Beach Fire were called to the scene."

Riggle said the lab was photographed, disassembled, and turned over to hazardous material personnel.
Kelley, of New Smyrna Beach, was charged with the manufacturing of methamphetamines, possession of listed chemicals and drug paraphernalia, and driving while license suspended. His vehicle was seized and taken to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.
Kelley was transported to Volusia County Branch Jail on a $31,000.00 bond.
