ORMOND BEACH -- In our country’s constant push to remove God from all phases of our public lives, the consequences are too unbearable to handle. This week a Florida teenager gave birth at home in the bathroom, lifted her son from the toilet and choked the life out of him.
Then the 14-year old stuffed him in a shoebox and left it for her mother to find. An autopsy indicated the baby was breathing at birth. The comments after the story show that people clearly understand the problem. One named Propagandhist says: “This is offensive and uphauling (sic) and doesn’t surprise me the least bit. What do we expect when we tolerate Planned Parenthhod (sic), Federally funded murder of babies, gratuitous sex in every aspect of media and advertising, and when we allow the leftists & atheists to erase God from our society?”
I truly don’t think our Founding Fathers would have had a clue how to address the complete lack of moral values of this 14-year-old. It is clear that America is reaping the rewards of our lax morals and indifference to God. It is impossible to have a healthy society when citizens are so overwhelmed with the negatives of life thrown at them without a strong, positive counterbalance.
But there is a light beginning to shine brightly. I have waited for years for my church leaders to realize what has happened to our country because they and the leaders of other Christian denominations were cowed into silence by the vocal atheists who want a Godless society easily manipulated by the ruling class until we submit to emptiness.
Where did this teenager get the idea she should behave this way? Was she so disconnected from her family that they didn’t notice she was pregnant? Was she afraid to ask for help? Why didn’t she value the baby growing inside her?

America so honored freedom of speech, the Founding Fathers enshrined it in the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment to our Constitution states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Our Country was founded with Judeo-Christian values and we need to return to our roots. It has never been so clearly illustrated as the country readies for a momentous election. Glenn Beck says, “We are all Catholics now.”
We are at the crossroads and must choose between emptiness and godliness. One side glorifies and endorses abortion, same-sex “marriage,” mandates that people of faith violate their conscience regarding contraceptives and abortion, favors federal control of K-8 education, opposes school choice and promotes the federal takeovers of health care, the auto industry, college loan market, banks, etc.
The other side opposes abortion, federal funding of Planned Parenthood and abortion. It supports traditional marriage, DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) and the Federal Marriage Amendment. It supports religious freedom, will repeal the HHS (Department of Health and Human Services) mandate and respects the First Amendment. It believes in empowering states to set education policy and strongly supports school choice.
Most telling is that this side supports free people, free enterprise, free association and respecting the autonomy of civil society. Here's a link: www.CatholicVote.org.
