DEBARY -- Thieves used a truck to smash the front doors and then grabbed nearly $9,000 worth of cigarettes from inside Lil Sammy's Citgo, 600 S. Charles R Beall Blvd., at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
When Volusia County Sheriff's deputies responded, they discovered the glass front doors had been shattered, agency spokesman Brandon Haught said.
The store's surveillance video showed that three masked men had used a light-colored mid-1990s Dodge Dakota extended cab pickup truck to ram the doors.
The men quickly went inside and loaded about 148 cartons of cigarettes into garbage bags. They then jumped into the truck and fled. The damage they caused to the store is estimated at $30,000.
The men had their faces covered with masks or cloths and wore long-sleeved shirts. They appeared to be in their early- to mid-20s.
