ORLANDO -- Pledging to his GOP colleagues that he would be a "conservative voice" for the party, Tony Ledbetter, chairman of the Republican Executive Committee of Volusia County, was elected Congressional Dis. 6 chairman for the Republican Party of Florida at its annual meeting the first weekend of January at the Rosen Centre Hotel.
Ledbetter's appointment comes in at No. 95 in the Headline Surfer® countdown of the Top 100 stories of 2013.
"I am honored by the support from the conservative leaders in Congressional District 6. I will be a conservative voice on the State Executive Board of the Florida Republican Party," said Ledbetter, of Ormond Beach, who, in the new post, represents Volusia, Putnam, St. John and Flagler counties on the State Executive Board of the Republican Party through 2014.

Lenny Curry was re-elected as chairman of the Republican Party. The Jacksonville resident has served in the top post since the 2011 death of the previous chairman, David Bitner.
