DAYTONA BEACH — A 69-year-old Osteen man was killed when he was was struck by a car while trying to walk across International Speedway Boulevard at LPGA Boulevard, Daytona Beach cops said.
The accident that led to the death of Charles Proudfoot occurred two days before Thanksgiving.
The tragic accident comes in at No. 90 in the Headline Surfer® countdown of the Top 100 Stories of 2013.
Proudfoot was walking across ISB at 10:20 p.m. Nov. 26, when he was hit by a 2008 Honda driven by Alisheia Robinson, 22 of Orlando, who was eastbound in the outside lane and had a green light. The victim, struck by the front left side of the passing vehicle, was thrown before landing on the pavement. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Robinson was was treated briefly at Halifax Health Medical Center for minor leg and hand injuries.
No charges were filed in the accident, police said.
