NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Ruthy's Kozy Kitchen, the breakfast and lunch eatery that nearly closed its doors for good four years ago because of a nearly year-long delay in completion of a CRA-funded street beautification project, was burglarized earlier this week, New Smyrna Beach cops said in a delayed report.
In a synopsis of the burglary reported to cops at 6:08 a.m. Tuesday, police Sgt. Valerie Joyce wrote: "Entry made through a window sometime overnight. Cash was stolen from bank bags. There are no suspects, witnesses or evidence."

Joyce re-sent the report to Headline Surfer® after realizing it had inadvertently not been sent earlier in the week as intended. For the past six years, the 24/7 internet newspaper has received a daily summary report of the previous day's events from the NSBPD, from an initial public records request.
Until a year ago, Headline Surfer® published the daily report, but because the police department switched to a new system, the names of those arrested or stopped by cops aren't as readily accessible. The reports were typically among the most accessed items on the 24/7 internet newspaper, according to Headline Surfer® analytics.
