DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The body of a 51-year Key West man was found today at Volusia County's Tomoka Farms Road in a load of refuse brought there in the morning.
The Sheriff’s Office was notified of the discovery at 10:33 a.m. and deployed its Major Case Unit to the scene to investigate. The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Ronald Lantery of Key West.
Lantery, whose last known legal address was 2200 Patterson Ave., Key West, Fla., was arrested and booked into the St. Johns County Jail in St. Augustine by St. Augfutine cops on Oct. 10, 2014, on a shoplifting charge as a first offense. His bail was only $500.

Regardless, the case is being treated as an unexplained homicide.
The body was transported to the morgue by the Office of the Volusia Ciounty Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be conducted in hopes of determining the manner and cause of death.
The criminal investigation is being jointly handled by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and the Daytona Beach Police Department.
