The "interim" tag was removed with Capri's swearing in ceremony 4:30 p.m. today with Mayor Derrick Henry administering the oath, as Capri's wife, Jennifer, and their three children -- Robert, 9, Anthony, 8, and Gianna, 3 -- stood proudly by his side in the city commission chambers at Daytona Beach City Hall, 301 S. Ridgewood Ave.
With 27 years of law enforcement experience, all with the Daytona Beach Police Department, the 49-year-old Capri is now the 16th police chief of the Daytona Beach police force in nearly 100 years.

Capri was named interim in early November when then-Chief Mike Chitwood left after 10 years to become sheriff of Volusia County earlier this month. Capri earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida and he graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. in March 2010.
