DAYTONA BEACH Shores, Fla. -- A 40-year-old Ohio woman in waist-deep water was bitten by a shark on Saturday and subsequently transported to Halifax Health Hospital where she was treated for a laceration of her lower left leg and released.
Here is a summary of what occurred as reported in a breaking news media alert Sunday by Capt. Laura S. Warner, of Volusia County Beach Safety, who was the watch commander on duty: On Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 1:12 pm, a 40-year-old woman from Ohio was wading in waist deep water in the 3300 block of Daytona Beach Shores when she was bit on the lower left leg, presumably by a shark. Her injuries were not life-threatening and she was transported to the hospital by EVAC to seek further treatment."
