Sheriff's Office wants to talk to 'person of interest' in DeBary murder

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate Christmas Eve's homicide of a 36-year-old DeBary woman, Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said.

Christina Barber was found dead Wednesday afternoon inside her home on Parkview Heights Boulevard. The Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy this morning, which confirmed that Barber's death was the result of a homicide. The cause of death is not being released at this time for investigative reasons.

Investigators with the Sheriff's Office's Major Case Unit are continuing to analyze evidence collected at the crime scene, follow leads and interview Barber's friends and relatives in an effort to develop a timeline of the victim's activities leading up to her death.

Officials also are trying to locate Barber's boyfriend, 50-year-old Robert Deo, the Sheriff's spokesman said.

"Considered a person of interest in the investigation, officials would like to talk to Deo since he may have been one of the last persons to see the victim alive," Davidson said. "Investigators hope to find out if he witnessed anything suspicious or has any information that could assist in the investigation. Deo was living with Barber at the time of her death."

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (386) 736-5979 or after hours or weekends at (386) 736-5999.
