No. 1 of 2018: Vitriol of Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood centers on Amendment 10

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The  vitriol of Sheriff Mike Chitwood, veracity of County Council's Heather Post, arrest of suspected pedophile David Lee Davis and the death of State Sen. Dorothy Hukill were big stories in 2018, but there was one bigger still: The perversion of politics in Edgewater by corrupt politicians who cost the city's taxpayers millions in lost revenue with the firing of the city manager, the jettisoning of the public safety director and the ongoing illicit between a city cop and councilwoman that continues to compromise the municipality into the new year.

MAITLAND, Fla --  Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma and others in a video tribute today remembered Deputy Sheriff Matt Miller, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Maitland Boulevard at the intersection with Gateway Drive, while attempting to make a traffic stop.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla -- Make movie watching a family affair at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, which will show three family-friendly movies in January.

The free movies include:

• “Alice in Wonderland”: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5. Nineteen-year-old Alice returns to Wonderland, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror. Mia Wasikowski, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter star. Rated PG, 108 minutes.
