Boat runs aground near Silver Beach approach in Daytona; whereabouts of anyone onboard unknown

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Like a scene from the classic TV show "Gilligan's Island, a 32-foot boat ran aground on the hard wet sands of the World's Most Famous Beach. Except that this is no desrted island and there was nobody with the boat.

At least not when the vessel ran aground at 10:45 a.m. on this Saturday morning, authorities said. A search was underway for th boat's owner or any of its occupants. The cabin cruiser was stuck in the sand north of the Silver Beach approach.

Daytona Beach International Airport passenger traffic up 6.3% over last 12 months ending May 31
