DELTONA -- Hazel Robbins, the 86-year-old woman with Alheimer's reported missing Wednesday, was found safe several hours later about a half mile from her Deltona home, a Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman said.

A resident on Wakefield Circle, about a half-mile from where Robbins went missing, spotted her in his backyard at 2:25 p.m. 

Robbins was reported missing by her son at 10:16 a.m.

According to the son, Robbins -- who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and congestive heart failure -- was home at 6 a.m., but walked away from their residence at 1107 Hastings Drive sometime afterwards.

The son called the Sheriff's Office after he drove around the neighborhood and couldn't find his mother.

More than a dozen patrol deputies, assisted by a K-9 unit, investigators and Sheriff's Office helicopter, searched for Robbins and checked area businesses, parks and cab companies," Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson told NSBNews.net.

DELTONA -- A special breakfast to celebrate Deltona Seniors will be held 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23 at the Deltona Community Center, 980 Lakeshore Drive.

The Senior Citizen Celebration Breakfast, sponsored by Deltona Parks & Recreation, is only $2.50 per person and includes eggs, pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.

DELTONA -- The obvious question as to how a 1-year-old Deltona boy ended up in the bottom of a family pool with such a tragic ending has been answered: "The mother was in the kitchen preparing dinner and lost sight of the child briefly," Volusia Country Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson told NSBNews.net.

The Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the drowning of the baby, identified as Chase Wilson.

Davidson said he did not have the mother's name or those of other immediate family members readily available and that the circumstances surrounding the drowning were explained to him by one of the investigators.

The baby is the youngest of what are now six small-child pool drowning fatalities in Volusia County this year.

The victim wasn't breathing when he was removed from the pool. The mother and father and a grandparent were at the house at the time of the incident, Davidson said.

DELTONA -- A 1-year-old boy drowned in a backyard swimming pool late this afternoon in Deltona. He is the youngest of six pre-school-age children to die in pool drownings this year in Volusia County.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 754 Leeward Drive after receiving a 911 call at 5:18 p.m. reporting that the baby had been found at the bottom of the pool, agency spokesman Gary Davidson said.

The baby, Chase Wilson, wasn’t breathing when he was removed from the pool. The child’s mother and father and a grandparent were at the house at the time of the incident, Davidson said.

"A Sheriff’s Office telecommunicator coached a frantic family member over the phone on CPR procedures while help was quickly sent to the house," Davidson said.

DELTONA -- Volusia County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Friday afternoon who wandered onto the grounds of a daycare center in Deltona and briefly grabbed a 5-year-old girl.

Workers at the center, DTA Academy on Providence Boulevard, immediately realized what was happening and quickly got the girl away from the stranger.

DELTONA -- The body found in the charred remains of minivan rental found early Thursday on a dirt trail in a wooded area off Lake Helen Osteen Road is that of a man and the case is being investigated as a possible homicide.

"The Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Thursday, but has not ruled on the cause of death," Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said. "The victim is an adult male who has not yet been positively identified. However, it isn't the person who rented the minivan, as investigators have located him safe and sound."
