NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Rev. Lorenzo Laws of the Allen Chapel AME Church and others in the predominantly-African-American Westside community and other parts of this coastal community marched across the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Bridge and into the Old Fort Park downtown for the MLK holiday vigil.

DELTONA -- One day after Headline Surfer® broke the story that highly-respected Deltona City Commissioner Webster Barnaby had entered the race to challenge Volusia County Council at-large incumbent Joyce Cusack, the Daytona Beach Beach News-Journal was playing catch-up on the newest entrant, but it's a quote attributed to the third candidate in the race that is a major whopper.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Deltona City Commissioner Webster Barnaby, 54, is the third candidate to file to run in the 2014 elections for the non-partisan at-large seat on the Volusia County Council against incumbent Joyce Cusack along with Patricia Northey, the current district 5 seat holder who is term-limited. Northey and Cusack are Democrats while Barnaby is a Republican.
