
Woman in domestic argument tells police she saw several 'bright flashes' but was not struck

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 26-year-old man was arrested early this morning on attempted murder charges after allegedly firing a handgun in his apartment during an argument with a 34-year-old woman.
Jocasta Elaine Houldsworth told cops she and Timothy Nels Griffith had been arguing just after 4 a.m. in his home in the 500 block of Wayne Avenue when she saw several "bright flashes" that she believed were gun shots. She was not hurt.
Here is a synopsis of what happened as reported by New Smyrna Beach police Sgt. Eugene Griffith, no relation to the accused: "During the investigation officers discovered a bullet hole in Mr. Griffith’s apartment window.
While contacting Griffith, officers recovered a 40 caliber handgun and observed approximately three bullet holes in the apartment.
Besides attempted murder, Timothy Griffith also was charged with aggravated assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a Felony and shooting within an Occupied Building. Griffith was being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach.
