REPORTED HERE FIRST: NSB man stabbed in torso; arrest made
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 34-year-old New Smyrna Beach man was stabbed in the torso during an altercation late Saturday night on Jacaranda Cay Court and the alleged stabber was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery, New Smyrna Beach police said.
The victim, Dustin Hewitt, was rushed by EVAC ambulance to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach where he was listed in stable condition following the 11:11 p.m. altercation, Sgt. Shane Riggle said. He was suffering from an apparent stab wound in the upper abdomen.

Derek Wikso, 22, of New Smyrna Beach, was arrested Saturday on a felony charge of aggravated battery after allegedly stabbing 34-year-old Dustin Hewitt during an argument over a cell phone. Wikso was released on $5,000 bail the next day and Hewitt has since been released from Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach for a stab wound to his torso.
