NSB biker, 57, killed on I-95

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 57-year-old New Smyrna Beach man was killed Friday on Interstate 95, south of Old Dixie Highway when he lost control of his 1989 Harley-Davidson while northbound in the passing lane and was ejected 50 feet from his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

For some unknown reason William Wells lost control of his bike, which skidded on the
right shoulder of the roadway, traveled through the grass shoulder, overturned and came to final rest in the tree line. Wells was ejected from his motorcycle, which landed 50 feet from him, the FHP reported.

NSB COPS: Man, 22, stabbed multiple times on beachside basketball court

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 22-year-old New Smyrna Beach man was treated for multiple stab wounds to his back-rib area Friday night at Bert Fish Medical Center after he was jumped by several other young men while playing basketball at Detweiler Park on the beachside, New Smyrna Beach police said.

The wounds were not-life threatening, but serious enough to necessitate staying overnight at the hospital, police Sgt, Christopher Roos said of the injuries suffered by Jawayne Tyler Santiago between 8:45 p.m. and 9:11 p.m.

Sheriff's Office: Agents seize $5.6M worth of pot at three grow houses in Osteen and DeLeon Springs

OSTEEN -- A tip to Volusia County narcotics agents led to raids Wednesday on three large-scale marijuana growing operations and the seizure of drugs with a street value of $5.6 million, the Sheriff's Office said.

Spring break welcomed after school break-in and thefts

Friday was the first day of spring break and the end of the third grading quarter. We are all feeling a little anxious to relax and take a break from school, leading to a lot of misconduct. Last week, teachers arrived to police and chaos. People, (I'm unable to find specifics so don't quote me on this), broke into the school breaking into two vending machines.

The beautiful elegance you see on the catwalk, is nothing like the chaos that goes on behind the scenes. When I jumped into this judging world of glamor, I found out first hand just how hard the life of a runway model can be.

Although, being on the runway is a lot of fun, it is also a lot of work. Runway has its ups and downs and though we are there to work, it is always fun.

Sheriff's Office: Shooter and victim identified in murder-suicide near DeLand

DELAND -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office has identified the parties in the murder-suicide Saturday night near DeLand as follows: The female victim was Sarah Hille, 42, who lived at 1775 Carr St. The male shooter and suicide victim was Richard Danao, 57, who lived at 3261 Grand Ave. He was Price's ex-boyfriend.

Angler Adam Barringer can bring the Anglers to the table and negotiate a new lease

More than a year has passed since the discussion commenced that led to an opinion from a competent outside counsel that the lease was void from the start, but after untold hours of City Commission time, the problem with the Angler Club and their lease remains unsolved.

NSB Utilities Commission CEO Robert J. Rodi resigns

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Robert J. Rodi, CEO and General Manager of the New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission resigned Monday during a special budget meeting of the Utlities Commission, saying his resignation takes effect  in May.

Rodi did not give a specific reason in announcing his decision during the meeting, which was not attended by any media.

Several people, who asked to remain anonymous, said Rodi's decision to step down was the result of threats and intimidation, but there was not more specifics.
