NSBNEWS.net video by Sera Frederick.

Mayor Adam Barringer, Volusia County Councilman Jack Hayman and City Commissioner Jack Grasty hosted a community forum Thursday at the Brannon Center regarding beach driving. Overwhelmingly, the 100 or so in attendance voiced support of retaining beach driving as an economic lifeline for the seaside community. NSBNEWS.net will post a package of stories and videos later in the day Friday, including a special report from the beach itself. But in the interim, here is an exclusive interview with the mayor who spoke exclusively to NSBNEWS.net following the 90-minute forum.

Primary season in high gear and NSBNEWS.net has it covered

Well, it's no surprise here that after four days of Early Voting, New Smyrna Beach leads the way countywide. We have extensive and intense coverage planned on the key races, the issuers, the candidates and voter sentiment, including profile stories, video interviews, candidate political notebooks and an array of advertising from the candidates themselves where you can click on their ads and check out their websites directly from NSB News. No other media outlet has as much daily interaction. We'll also have endorsements in advance of the Aug. 24 primary.

Trip to upstate New York inspiring with new friendships

Recently I traveled to New York. Last year I met a now 7-year-old girl who was visiting her now late grandfather next door to me. I helped out the family when Fern, the girl, needed to be side-tracked and had a good time.

I have kept in touch with her through mail and sending pictures. Then, this summer, we got a
