Ups and downs of news

The news over the past few days has had its ups and downs. A 16-year-old boy visiting with his parents from Minnesota fell 24 stories to his death from a beachside resort Sunday in Daytona Beach. A man was shot by another the day before in Daytona Beach in a Spring Break-related incident and is on life support. This, too, was unexpected and tragic, but I can't say it was shocking, considering the event associated with it often involves alcohol and drugs.
