Volusia County jail to host career fair Saturday

DELAND, Fla. -- Men and women interested in a career in public protection have an opportunity to join Volusia County’s Division of Corrections.

The division will host a career fair at 8 a.m. Saturday, at the Volusia County Branch Jail, 1300 Red John Drive, Daytona Beach.

DELTONA, Fla. -- With daily temperatures hovering around 90 degrees, it’s hard to think about working outside. But it’s already time to start laying the groundwork for your fall vegetable garden.

Joe Sewards will offer tips on getting ready for the fall vegetable season from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lyonia Environmental Center, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona.

EDGEWATER, Fla. -- Decorate a pumpkin at the Edgewater library: Have some festive fall family fun by decorating a pumpkin at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Edgewater Public Library, 103 W. Indian River Blvd. Decorating supplies and pumpkins will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Families can bring their own supplies and pumpkin if they wish. Don’t forget to enter the pumpkin contest the following week.
