Bike Week: 1 death so far during 10-day motorycyle rally in greater Daytona Beach heading into final weekend Henry Frederick Fri, 03/16/2018 - 09:49

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- With only one biker fatality on Monday, the 2018 Bike Week motorcycle rally has been a fun-fiulled adventure heading into the final weekend of the 10-day event.

So far, a motorcyclist from New York killed in Holly Hill remains the lone roadway fatality.

The wreck at Flomich and State avenues took place at 8:10 p.m., according to a report from Florida Highway Patrol. The rider, identified Wednesday as 54-year-old David Remchuck of Hornell, NY, was thrown from his 2005 Harley-Davidson after he struck a utility pole while westbound on Flomich.

Wacky weather blamed for attic fire near Maitland, hail in Ormond & tornado warnings in Daytona

A lightning strike may have also sparked a small fire in the attic of a home near the Maitland city limits.

The fire was just after 5 p.m., but was contained The homeowners were not home when the fire broke out and nobody was hurt.
