DELAND, Fla --  Do you love a good ghost story? Christopher Bell has loads of them. The Stetson University professor will share spooky stories from India, Tibet, China and Japan at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave. He will contrast them with classic European and American stories and throw in a few from Central Florida as well. Registration is not required for this free program. Palatka man gets life in prison for murdering girlfriend

PALATKA, Fla – Jose Maldonado Sr. pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the gunshot killing of his estranged girlfriend and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison earlier on this Friday, a spokesman for the State Attorney's Office announced.
