SANFORD, Fla -- Residents were wakened shortly after 1:30 in the morning to an argument between two people and then a gunshot sound on tiny dead-end Muddy Lane leading to the arrest of a 26-year old woman whose older boyfriend lay dead in a pool of his own blood from a gunshot wound to the neck.

PONCE INLET, Fla. -- An elderly woman was shot and killed in her home early on this Wednesday morning, Ponce Inlet police said, adding it id being treated as a homicide and that two suspects who were known to the victim were in custody.

COVID-19 infections continue meteoric rise

ORLANDO, Fla. -- 

The Sunshine State Florida reported nearly 300,000 coronavirus COVID-19 infections from Dec. 24-30, an average of about 42,600 infections per day.

That’s a 138 percent increase in weekly infections from the previous week's total.

The seven-day average of omicron variant infections surpasses the 25,000 daily average the delta wave hit this past summer. Florida’s first omicron case was on Dec. 6. Since then, it has skyrocketed.
