TAVARES, Fla. – A Hernando County judge was appointed in November by Gov. Rick Scott to serve on the 5th Judicial Circuit Court in Tavares.
The 5th circuit is under the umbrella of the 5th District Court of Appeal, which sits in Daytona Beach.
Donald E. Scaglione, 54 of Brooksville and a Hernando County Judge since 2005, filled a vacancy created by the retirement of Circuit Judge Sandra Edwards-Stephens.
The advancement of Judge Scaglione comes in at No. 79 in the Headline Surfer® countdown of the top 100 stories of 2013.

From 1990-2004, Scaglione served as assistant state attorney in the 5th Judicial Circuit. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and his law degree from the South Texas College of Law.
