HEADLINE SURFER BEACH REPORT for Saturday, Dec. 3, World's Most Famous Beach in Daytona, Daytona Bech Shores, Ormond Beach, Ponce Inlet & New Smyrna Beach: Volusia County Beach Safety flew the yellow flag today. "We had no water rescues or any other issues today," said Senior Captain Andrew Ethridge of Volusia County Beach Safety. "The beach remained open to driving throughout high tide and we had a mild crowd due to the cooler weather. We expect similar conditions for tomorrow."

Thanksgiving holiday weekend turns deadly in DeLand house party: 2 shot to death; internet news outlet denied police incident report

DELAND, Fla. -- The DeLand Police Department is investigating an apparent shooting at what was described as a "large party" in a house in the 800 block of Valleydale Avenue where one person was pronounced dead on scene when DeLand cops arrived shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday and a second person died after multiple transports to the hospital overnight, a city spokesman said.
