HOLLY HILL, Fla. -- If there is one thing certain from the Headline Surfer Public Candidate Debates for the three seats on the Volusia County Council up for grabs in the Nov. 8 general elections, district 4's Heather Post and Al Smith do not like each other one bit and it showed when they were seated next to each other with the moderator to their left and the video camera pointed at them.

New Smyrna Beach cops: Pedestrian struck & killed while crossing US 1 away from a crosswalk

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- A 63-year-old man trying to cross US 1 was struck by a motorist in the 1100 block of the southbound lanes and died shortly after being airlifted to Halifax Hospital on Thursday, New Smyrna Beach cops said.
