DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Two pedestrians who were crossing South Atlantic Avenue when they hesitated then continued trying to cross after reaching the median and were struck by a Harley-Davidson, resulting in critical injuries to them as well as the biker and a passenger Saturday night, Daytona Beach Shores police reported.
DEBARY -- A 42-year-old Orange City woman was struck and killed early Saturday after she sudenly stepped in front of a car on South Charles R. Beall Boulevard just a little south of its intersection with Dirksen Drive, a Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman said.
Sherrie Ann Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:49 p.m. moments after stepping in front of a 2000 4-door BMW 528i, witnesses told responding deputies. No charges were filed against 41-year-old Corey Manuel of DeBary, who was uninjured and alone.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- VFW Post 4250 is hosting the inaugural Veterans and Veteran’s Family Appreciation Parade at 4 p.m. Saturday
The staging point will be at Buena Vista Park on the North Causeway beginning at noon. The parade route will go East to Orange Street, South to Canal Street, and end at Old Fort Park. A brief ceremony will take place recognizing S. Truett Cathy, a New Smyrna Beach resident, World War II Veteran and well-known founder of Chick- Fil-A.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- 'Cudas quarteback Evan Schroeder and running back Raheem Mostert hooked up on a series of passing plays starting from their own 25-yard line, the final one a 9-yard touchdown strike to give New Smyrna Beach a 28-24 come-from-behind victory over previously unbeaten DeLand at the NSB Sports Complex.

The 10-10-10 Business Energy Expo held by the NSB Marine Discovery Center drew enthusiastic crowds Sunday as part of a worldwide effort to encourage alternative energy sources, including the people shown in this photo with the Intracoastal Waterway asa backdrop. Some 2,500 people attended Sunday's NSB event.
